so i did my good deed of the day, probably even month, today. we went for brunch in city centre today at the metro cafe off south williams street and loved it as usual. (highly recomend the metro special with a bagel. so yummy and scrumptcious. we love this place - cheap, fast and great - and pretty much take everyone who stays with us there for a sunday brunch) we're walking back and grab some cash for tomorrow morning, i pick up some gerbera daisies for the house and walk to the LUAS to take us home. as we're waiting for the tram to get there, i overhear 4 elderly (maybe mid to late 60's???) ladies asking how to get to the Charlamont stop. since its only like 2 stops from st stephens green, i decide to give em some help. apparently some chav girl told them they need the RED line to get to their hotel - when their hotel & stop is actually on the GREEN line. they asked someone for help but she got really curt and was really rude to them. i mean i hate tourists just as much as anyone, but you can totally see that it was these ladies first trip abroad together and it doesnt kill to be nice and helpful. anyways, i jump in and start sorting the ladies out. im calm with them, listen and tell them where they need to go. they dont have tickets (apparently the hiltons courtesy bus dropped them off in town) so i help them select their fare and show them how to pay for it. i then direct them to the tram they need and find them a spot to sit. they were ever so grateful. when the tram stopped at Charlamont, i held the doors open (even though the tram driver was trying to close them on me, you just cant rush american tourists!) and showed them how to get downstairs to their hotel. they thanked me as i was leaving and asked if i was american. they smiled and laughed when i said i was. they blessed my "pea picking heart" lol. it was just great ive never seen a group of women so happy. lol. and seriously, if people ever question why i do CSR, thats why. the look on peoples faces when you help them and they are lost. its the greatest feeling in the world. or at least gives you a happy laugh out of it. |
